RCSHS Jazz Band
Jazz Band 28331 ½ Credit/After School
This ensemble will be offered during the second semester after school. All participants in this group must be members of the concert band except for pianist, guitarist and vocalists. This ensemble will be offered only if at least standard instrumentation is available. Standard instrumentation of a jazz band is as follows: 1 keyboard, 1 drum set, 1 guitar, 1 bass, 2 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone, 4-5 trombones or baritones, and 4-5 trumpets. This ensemble will learn about jazz performance, improvisation and history. Rehearsals will be held twice weekly after school. This ensemble will perform at 2 concerts and participate in at least one jazz festival.
